South Street partially reopened after water main break

Police have reopened three lanes on South Street after a water main break closed the street between Queen Street and Kapi‘olani Boulevard this afternoon.A break in an 8-inch water main was reported at about 2:30 p.m. on South Street near The Honolulu Advertiser building. Police closed South Street for about an hour while crews tried to find the break.
The cause of the break was not known and crews had yet to locate the break as of 3:45. It was not known how long the repair work would take.
Several businesses in the area are without water.
