Surfrider serenades
OK, this isn't exactly John Candy explaining himself to Tom Hanks in "Splash," but you get the idea.
A year ago, the Sheraton Moana Surfrider launched its Courtyard Concert Series, originally planned to be three events. But the series has taken off, and the hotel is sticking with it through the end of this year.
The courtyard series is broadcast live by The Breeze radio station at 99.5 FM. Concerts are scheduled one Thursday a month through December from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The next event is tomorrow night, with entertainment by Martin Pahinui, George Kuo, Aaron Mahi, Kani Lau and a surprise guest.
There's no charge for the concert, but pupus and drinks will be sold in the courtyard. www.moana-surfrider.com, 922-3111.

In the fashion zone
It starts at 5:30 p.m. with a display of fashions in the Coral Ballroom foyer, followed by the fashion show and awards banquet at 7 p.m. For information, call Wendy Yang at 592-4200.
