Patsy Mink will be inducted into hall

The late U.S. Rep. Patsy Mink of Hawai'i is one of 19 women and men who will be inducted into the Scholar-Athlete Hall of Fame at the Institute for International Sport on Saturday in Kingston, R.I.
Mink, who died of pneumonia last year, was instrumental in the passage of Title IX, known now as the Patsy Mink Equal Opportunity in Education Act, which forbids exclusion of either sex from any education program receiving federal financial assistance.
Others inductees include Olympian Bob Mathias, baseball great Jackie Robinson, Val Ackerman, president of the WNBA, marathon champion Frank Shorter and writer and film producer Bud Greenspan.
The ceremony is part of the Scholar-Athlete Games for high school students, June 21-28, at the University of Rhode Island.

Rainbow Wahine camp still open: The University of Hawai'i women's soccer team still has opening for its camps.
The camp will run in two sessions, from July 15-18 and July 22-25. Both sessions will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and are open to boys and girls, ages 8 to 13.
The first session is to improve all technical and tactical aspects of the game. Cost is $150, with a $25 late fee after July 1.
The second is a goalkeeper camp, with a cost of $150 and a $25 late fee after July 8.

WEIGHTLIFTING
Yamauchi 12th in Junior Worlds: Honolulu's Bryce Yamauchi finished 12th in the 2003 Junior World Championships, held earlier this month in Hermosillo, Mexico. Yamauchi's brother Kyle was 19th in his weight division.
Bryce, competing at 56 kilograms, lifted a total of 200 kilograms (90 snatch, 110 clean and jerk). The winner, from China, lifted 265 kilograms.
Kyle competed in the 62-kg division. He lifted 225 (100 snatch, 125 clean and jerk) while the winner, Le Qui from China, reached 287.5.
The U.S. men's team finished 11th at Junior Worlds.
