Roe's change of heart doesn't change facts

It's not new that the plaintiff in Roe vs. Wade has done a 180-degree turn in her position on abortion. Norma McCorvey had a change of heart in 1995 around the time she was baptized by an anti-abortion pastor.

What's new, however, is that McCorvey is now bent on overturning Roe vs. Wade in federal court. Though the likelihood of her succeeding is slim, her lawsuit is a public relations coup for abortion foes.

But let's put this in perspective. Millions of women have had abortions since it was legalized in the United States in 1973. And while some might regret their decisions, others have gone on to live healthy lives, bearing children when they felt the time was right.

McCorvey may have changed her mind, but we haven't budged from our belief in a woman's right to choose. If, by some fluke, McCorvey prevails, abortion will be driven underground and become very, very dangerous.
