Advertiser Staff

The Hawai'i Pacific University women's volleyball team announced the signing of two Brazilians yesterday.

Flavia Brakling of Sao Paulo and Paula Nascimento of Belo Horizonte will play for the Sea Warriors next season.

Brakling, a 6-foot-3 outside hitter, helped National American University of South Dakota to a 41-0 mark and the NAIA national championship this season.

Nascimento, a 6-2 outside hitter, played for Lake Land College, a junior college in Illinois, for two years and led it to a ninth-place finish at the national tournament this season.

"Brakling and Nascimento are welcome additions to our program," HPU coach Tita Ahuna said.

"Both girls come to HPU from very respectable programs and have the tools we're looking for to take us back to the NCAA Tournament."
