Key House votes
1. Estate tax
On Wednesday, the House passed, 264-133, a bill that would repeal the estate tax permanently in 2010. A "yea" vote was to pass the bill.

2. Tax collection policies
On Thursday, the House passed, 252-170, a bill that would make many changes to tax collection practices and IRS policies, and give taxpayers until April 30 to file returns if they do so electronically. A "yea" vote was to pass the bill.

3. Small-business health plans
On Thursday, the House passed, 262-162, a bill that would exempt small-business health plans from state laws. A "yea" vote was to pass the bill.

Key Senate votes
1. Medicare
On Wednesday, the Senate rejected, 58-37, an amendment to the Medicare bill that would have allowed seniors to choose between a government-run prescription-drug plan and one administered by private-sector insurance companies. A "yea" vote was to adopt the amendment.
