THURSDAY
"POI FOR THE SOUL," a television program presented by Outreach for Grieving Youth Alliance Hawaii. In the 25-minute program, local youth share their experiences of loss while showing what it's like to cultivate taro and make poi. The narrator and Hawaiian cultural educators reveal the relationship between working with taro and coping with grief. Airs 9 a.m. June 26 on 'Olelo Channel 52. Will be rebroadcast July 3 at 12:30 p.m., and July 17 and 24 at 11:30 p.m.
UPCOMING
FAMILY DAY, patriotic celebration on July 5 to support American troops and their families. Event begins at 10 a.m. with a parade along Fort DeRussy and ending at Kapi'olani Park. Parade will include local and Mainland bands, clowns, costume characters and classic cars. Activities at Kapi'olani Park begin at 11 a.m. and will include games, inflatables, arts and crafts, and food booths. Concert at the bandstand will feature Jake Shimabukuro, Jordan Segundo and Brother Noland. Event concludes with Sunset on the Beach, including fireworks, hula performances and the family movie "Lilo & Stitch" on a 30-foot screen.
HAWAII WOMEN'S LEGAL FOUNDATION is accepting applications for 2003 grant requests from organizations and projects that help to improve legal status and welfare of women.
