Islanders' White gets national honor

Fullback/linebacker Josh White of the Hawaiian Islanders has been named national Ironman of the Week for his performance in a 39-38 arenafootball2 victory over San Diego last Saturday.
White rushed for 52 yards on nine carries, and made six tackles, including two sacks and two forced fumbles.
White was named Most Valuable Player, Ironman and ADT Defensive Player of the Game, becoming the first Islander to win all three awards in one game.
BASEBALL
Hawai'i hammered: Kahe Santos had five hits and five RBIs as the Hammahedz of Hawai'i routed Hawai'i, 26-5, yesterday in the Best of the West Baseball Classic at Central O'ahu Regional Park.
Kepa Wong went 3 for 6 with a double and six RBIs, and Gainor Nitta went 3 for 4 with a triple for the Hammahedz.
In other games, North Carolina beat California, 5-2; Leeward beat Kailua, 11-6, and Arizona beat Alaska, 10-2.
Pool play continues today with doubleheaders at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
