A man carrying a gun and wearing a Halloween mask yesterday robbed the Mililani branch of American Savings Bank, 95-221 Kipapa Drive.

The robber, who had a hood over his head, entered the bank at 2:20 p.m. holding the gun, said Honolulu police detective Brian Johnson. The man demanded cash from a teller and fled on foot. Johnson said there were 10 to 12 people, including employees, in the bank when it was robbed.

Yesterday's was O'ahu's 17th bank robbery of the year and the ninth time an American Savings branch has been held up.

Man charged with molesting

A 19-year-old 'Aina Haina man was charged yesterday with four counts of first- and five counts of third-degree sex assault on an 8-year-old girl.

Douglas L.P. Moore is being held in lieu of $75,000 bail. The attacks allegedly occurred between August 2001 and this week. The victim told a relative on Wednesday, and police were notified.

'Ewa road will get traffic light

A traffic light and pedestrian-crossing signal will soon be up and running along a deadly stretch of Fort Weaver Road in 'Ewa, state transportation officials said.

The signal, near the Child & Family Service Center at 91-1841 Fort Weaver Road, will be in operation starting the week of July 7.

Officials installed the light at a crosswalk where a 16-year-old girl was killed last July.
