Service set for Iolani teacher, chaplain Ward

A memorial service will be held July 18 for the Rev. Arthur Bowles Ward, history and government teacher and chaplain at Iolani School from 1957 to 1979, who died Sept. 24 at age 88.

The service at St. Andrew's Cathedral will begin at 5 p.m.

Born July 27, 1914, in Newark, N.J., Ward also served at St. Barnabas Church in 'Ewa Beach and was a canon at St. Andrew's Cathedral from 1979 to 1983.

Ward is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughters Caroline Ward Oda and Sally Ward Wright; son Stephen Bowles Ward; and six grandchildren.
