• With the recent appointment of Blair Collis as press director, Hawaiiana book wholesaler Booklines Hawaii has been named primary wholesale distributor for Bishop Museum Press, the oldest continuous publisher of books in Hawai'i. Booklines Hawaii provides a list of more than 1,000 Hawaiiana book titles to retailers statewide. Proceeds of Bishop Museum Press book sales go toward the museum's programs in research, education and collections maintenance.

• The latest in chef Roy Yamaguchi's culinary empire, ROY'S AT KO OLINA RESORT, will open in the fall, in the space previously occupied by Niblicks Restaurant at the Ko Olina Golf Club. The newly designed 200-seat restaurant will overlook the lagoon, waterfalls and the golf club's 18th hole. The opening comes about 15 years after the opening of Yamaguchi's restaurant in Hawai'i Kai.

• DAVE AND BUSTER'S INC. has been recognized as Outstanding Employer of the Year by the state Department of Human Services, for its achievement in integrating four deaf employees into jobs at its restaurant at Ward Entertainment Complex. The four — a pizza chef, a dishwasher and dining room attendants — had worked together with a job coach and supervisor to approach their duties. The restaurant was recognized by the department's Vocational Rehabilitation and Services for the Blind Division.

• After a recent $60 million renovation, Turtle Bay Resort has been awarded Meetings & Conventions magazine's 2003 Gold Tee Award. The honor, based on nominations and selections by the magazine's readers, recognizes outstanding golf and meeting properties worldwide. In addition to a 36-hole championship golf course, the 800-acre beachfront property now includes the full-service Conference Center of the Pacific.
