Now it's time to wait for next 'Potter' film
Advertiser Staff
Fans of the Harry Potter books waited an agonizingly long time for the new one, so it's only fitting that fans of the movies must wait, too.
The third Potter film, "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban," won't hit theaters until June 4 next year.
That's nearly a two-year interval between the second and third films, as opposed to the one-year gap between the first two. But the wait may be worth it. The third one is being shot in England under the guidance of the gifted Alfonso Cuaron.
The first two movies are both in the U.S. all-time Top 20 at the box office: "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" is No. 9 with $318 million, and "Chamber of Secrets" is No. 19 with $262 million.
Hawai'i's heroes
Six of Hawai'i's Medal of Honor recipients will be recognized at the eighth annual Patriots Celebration, a gala event and fund-raiser for the Hawaii Foodbank. The event will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Hilton Hawaiian Village's Coral Ballroom. The honorees include five veterans of World War II and one from the Vietnam War.
The food bank holds food drives along with fund-raising events. The Patriots Celebration is the organization's only formal event. On previous occasions, the food bank honored veterans of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team and former prisoners of war, as well as Hawai'i's Olympians.
The food bank hopes to raise $250,000.
