Hawai'i loses to Rice, 75-58

HOUSTON Yamar Diene scored 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Rice beat Hawai'i, 75-58, in a men's Western Athletic Conference basketball game today.Diene was 9-of-11 from the field for the Owls (18-8, 10-6 WAC). Michael Harris added 15 points and Omar-Seli Mance had 13.
Hawai'i (15-10, 7-9) was led by Phil Martin, who scored 23 points. Carl English had 14, despite hitting only 4-of-15 shots.
Rice shot 53 percent from the field. Hawaii shot less than 36 percent and was outrebounded 41-28.
The Owls outscored the Warriors 42-20 in the paint.
