After sharing starting pitching duties with Johnna Rowland last season, Mililani High School senior Miki Asamura took over as the Trojans' undisputed ace this year.

She responded with two perfect games in eight days, against playoff-bound Wai'anae and Pearl City, in addition to a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts and no walks in a 1-0 victory over Campbell and a two-hitter with nine strikeouts in a 3-0 win over Leilehua, two more playoff-bound teams.

Those kind of numbers made Asamura an easy repeat choice as O'ahu Interscholastic Association Western Division Player of the Year.

Asamura is joined on the OIA West all-star first team by teammates Sandy Nakamura, Charity Senas and B.J. Shimamoto. Nakamura was a hard-hitting first baseman and Senas a smooth-fielding shortstop who led off the batting order with power and speed. Shimamoto, a repeat selection, was a speedy center fielder.

Kapolei, Pearl City and Wai'anae were represented on the first team with two players each. Kapolei had second baseman Chaz Ebalaroza and outfielder Malama Manuma, Pearl City landed third baseman Celine Akana and utility player Kellie Nishikida and Wai'anae had catcher Shaylla Moses and pitcher Tracy Kane.

Campbell outfielder Alicia Pada rounds out the first team.

Mililani's Mike Okimoto was named Coach of the Year. The Trojans had their fourth straight undefeated regular season and extended their OIA win streak to 60 games.
