Advertiser Staff

HILO, Hawai'i — Police are warning Hilo residents about a series of car break-ins in neighborhoods around lower Haihai Street.

Hilo Community Policing Officer Richard B. Toledo said cars parked at more than a dozen homes in the area have been broken into since Feb. 27.

Areas that were hit included Kino'ole, Kupa'a, Nalani, East Pu'ainako, Kalanikoa and Laukapu streets. The break-ins were during the late-night or early-morning hours, and police urged residents to lock their cars and homes at night.

Call Toledo at 959-5072 or the nonemergency number at 935-3311.
