'Weigh In' today across America

Advertiser Staff

The American Cancer Society today hosts the "Great American Weigh In" in partnership with Weight Watchers, encouraging people across the nation to maintain a healthy weight.

On O'ahu, people can get weighed and find out where they stand on the body mass index, or BMI, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at three places: Kahala Mall's Center Court; Windward Mall's Center Court; and the 'Aiea Weight Watchers Center in Harbor Center.

Studies show that being at a healthy weight reduces the risk of heart disease, diabetes, hypertension and stroke.

Being overweight increases the risk of many cancers and that's why the cancer society has teamed up with the weight-loss organization.
