Sellitto seeks ex-Spartan players

Former Maryknoll High basketball coach Tony Sellitto, recently retired from Hawai'i Pacific University, is searching for his former Maryknoll players (1966-88) to join him at Eastside Grill on Monday, April 7, to watch the NCAA Division I men's basketball championship game on television.

Former Spartans can RSVP by telephone to the Maryknoll Alumni Office at 952-7310.

• JV basketball champ: Kahuku won the O'ahu Interscholastic Association junior varsity basketball championship for the first time in 10 years with a record of 13-0 in regular- and post-season and 20-3 overall.

Coach Taki Thompson said freshman point guard Okesene "Junior" Ale was the team's leading scorer while sophomore Viliami Tilini (6-2, 245) and freshman Joshua Wily (6-1, 225) cleared a lot of space under the backboards.

Sophomores Hapaki Kaululaau, Al Afalava and Bronson Ponciano-Ahue also were key contributors, Thompson said.

• Volleyball coaches: Maryknoll is seeking boys and girls volleyball coaches for high school and elementary school teams. Resumes should be faxed to 952-7371or e-mailed to athletics@maryknollschool.org or mailed to Kimberly Yamauchi at Maryknoll School, 1526 Alexander St., Honolulu 96822, by March 21. The school requests no telephone inquiries.

• Soccer coach: Iolani is taking applications for head boys varsity soccer coach. Mail them to Judy Hiramoto, Athletic Director, Iolani School, 563 Kamoku St., Honolulu 96826. Interviews will be scheduled this month.

• Swimming correction: Iolani's Hongzhe Sun has won seven out of eight possible individual state swimming championships during his four years. An incorrect figure was reported on Sunday.
