Hawaiian pilots OK concessions
Advertiser Staff
Hawaiian Airlines pilots have voted to approve $8 million in concessions to help the carrier avoid major job and service cutbacks and the risk of bankruptcy.About 81 percent, or 226 pilots, voted in favor of the labor agreement. Of the 386 pilots eligible to vote, 279 cast ballots.
Pilots make up 28 percent of Hawaiian's labor payroll, according to the Air Line Pilots Association. The $8 million in labor concessions makes up more than half of the $15 million that Hawaiian asked employees to give back. The contract changes go into effect April 1 and last until June 30, 2004.
