'Aina Haina sale to help library
The Friends of 'Aina Haina Public Library will hold its annual book sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through March 15 at the library's auditorium.
Prices will be reduced every day. Proceeds benefit the library at 5246 Kalaniana'ole Highway.

Hilo orchid show offers preview
HILO, Hawai'i The 51st annual orchid show and sale, presented by the Hilo Orchid Society and Hawai'i County, will open at 7 p.m. March 20 with a preview party at the Edith Kanaka'ole Tennis Stadium. The preview is co-sponsored by Hospice of Hilo.
The orchid show will be open to the public daily from 9 a.m. March 21-23.
In conjunction with the show, the American Orchid Society, The Orchid Digest, the International Phalaenopsis Alliance, the Odontoglossum Alliance and the Pleuro-thallid Alliance will hold a conference at the Hawai'i Naniloa Resort, March 19 to 22.
This series of meetings and lectures is hosted by the Hilo Orchid Society, with 300 guests from Hawai'i, the Mainland, Asia and Europe expected to attend.

Sierra Club rally set tomorrow
The O'ahu chapter of the Sierra Club will hold a rally at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow to discuss environmental projects that volunteers can get involved in to make a difference in their communities.
The rally will include a potluck meal and be held at Paki Hale, 3840 Paki Ave. near Kapi'olani Park.

Photo contest for students
Elementary and intermediate school students from 6 to 13 years old are invited to participate in a photo contest during the Honolulu Festival from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. March 15.
The Fujifilm Photo Contest will bring together 1,000 students to take photos of the dancers, artisans and performers marching in the annual festival through the streets of Waikiki.
The program is aimed at promoting cultural awareness among Hawai'i's children, and the Honolulu Festival will provide Fujifilm QuickSnap cameras for the event.
On March 16 the young photographers will also take shots of the festival's floats, some weighing in at 1.8 tons, during the Festival's Grand Parade on Kalakaua Avenue.
The winning photographs will be on display at Ala Moana Center from April 15 to 20.
The grand prize of three computers will be awarded to one winning school.
Interested students should inquire at their own school's office.
