'Prayer Walk' scheduled

The Fellowship of Windward Churches, a coalition of 14 mostly evangelical/conservative Christian groups, is holding a morning "prayer walk" on March 15.

At 8:30 a.m., members will gather at Faith Baptist Church, 1230 Kailua Road, for an hourlong session of worship and instruction, then head out to spread prayer through different parts of the Windward community.

Members will split up into teams, but not all will be walking: Some will hike, while others will drive or ride boats or bikes. One clergyman is even planning to fly over each neighborhood in an aircraft.

They'll gather back at 11:30 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church for lunch.

For more information, call New Hope Windward at 261-5975.

Concert slated for March 21

The Phillips Academy Cantata Choir and Chamber Orchestra will perform Bach's "The Passion According to St. John" in a concert at 7:30 p.m. March 21 at St. Andrew's Cathedral.

The musical group is composed of members from a high school in Andover, Mass., and led by William Thomas. Featured soloists include Joe Dan Harper, Allen Combs and Krista River, all members of the music faculty.

The free concert will be dedicated to the late Richard Hicks, a longtime St. Andrew's Cathedral member.

For more information, call Carol Turley at 524-8632.

Buddha Day celebration set

The Moiliili Hongwanji Mission will celebrate Buddha Day at 9 a.m. March 30 at its temple, 902 University Ave.

Guest speaker will be Pieper Toyama, head of the newly formed Pacific Buddhist Academy, which will open a ninth-grade class next school year on the grounds of the Hongwanji Mission School.

A Buddhist book fair will follow the service, sponsored by the dharma school PTA. For more information, call the Rev. Eric Matsumoto at 949-1659.
