The Dec. 6 football game between Hawai'i and Boise State will kick off at 1:30 p.m. at Aloha Stadium, according to the 2003 television schedule released by ESPN.
UH games usually start at 6 p.m.
The game will be shown on either ESPN or ESPN2 as part of the cable network's "Championship Week" programming. The game originally was scheduled for Nov. 8, but was moved at the request of ESPN. Boise State and Hawai'i finished 1-2 in the Western Athletic Conference last year.
Because it is a league game, UH will have to petition the WAC for permission to set up on the 'Ewa sideline. The WAC requires the home team to use the sideline across from the press box. But that sideline, on the Diamond Head side, faces the setting sun.
ARENA FOOTBALL
Ah Yat to start on national TV: Former Iolani School standout and University of Montana All-American Brian Ah Yat will be the starting quarterback for the Chicago Rush in their nationally televised Arena Football League game against the San Jose Sabercats today.
The game will be televised at 1 p.m. on NEWS-8.
Ah Yat earned Advertiser All-State honors in 1993 and was a first team NCAA Division I-AA All-American at Montana in 1996, when he led the Grizzlies to a national runner-up finish as a sophomore.
Following his career at Montana, he spent three seasons with the Winnepeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League.
COLLEGE SOFTBALL
UH routs Loyola Marymount: Melissa Coogan scattered eight hits and two runs, and Marie Jackson and April Crowell drove in two runs each, leading the University of Hawai'i to a 9-2 victory over Loyola Marymount in the 2003 Malihini Tournament at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
Crowell and Kate Judd had three hits apiece to lead the Rainbows' 18-hit attack.
UH's game against Baylor was not available at press time.
UHH sweeps BYUH: The University of Hawai'i-Hilo softball team swept Brigham Young-Hawai'i in a Pacific West Conference doubleheader, 7-2 and 5-1, yesterday at the Hilo softball field.
Diana Kim batted 4 for 8 on the day with 4 RBIs and a double.
The teams meet again today in a noon non-conference doubleheader.

Irons advances Down Under: Defending world champion Andy Irons of Kaua'i advanced to the fourth round of the Quiksilver Pro yesterday at Snapper Rocks, Queensland, Australia.
The second and third rounds were completed yesterday in clean waves of 4 to 6 feet.
Irons defeated Australian wildcard Troy Brooks, 15.7-13.16, in the third round. Irons' first two waves of the 30-minute heat received scores of 7.67 and 8.03. He then held off a late charge by Brooks to advance.

The contest is the first stop on the 2003 World Championship Tour. The women's Roxy Pro did not run yesterday.
WATER POLO
UCSB tops UH, 7-5: The University of Hawai'i women's water polo team fell to UC Santa Barbara, 7-5, yesterday in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation game in Santa Barbara, Calif., after being outscored 4-0 in the third quarter.
