For instance, maybe you want information on a new medication or are searching for the perfect toy. The Internet is a great tool to use, no matter what it is you seek.
Let's say you're interested in behavior training for your pet. Within seconds of using a search engine such as Yahoo or Google, thousands of sites will be at your fingertips. With all these online resources available to you, your companion animal is sure to be one well-behaved pet.
For instance, Petplace.com is a great springboard because it separates animals into specific "Pet Centers" that include dogs, cats, birds, horses, small mammals, reptiles and fish.
A site that suggests pet-proofing your house is VetCentric, a veterinary pharmacy that also offers advice on health and behavior (www.vetcentric.com). This site employs a team of veterinary experts to provide reliable information on many subjects.
You can find a whole library of answers from the American Animal Hospital Association's Web site (www.healthypet.com/Library/index.html). The association constantly updates its library to make room for new topics.
The home page of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (www.aspca.org) provides behavior tips as well as a section called "Ask Dr. Hawk." Simply fill in the required fields, hit Send and this ASPCA veterinarian will respond to your inquiry.
A quick search of www.hsus.org, the Web address of the Humane Society of the United States, will uncover 200 related e-mail and printer-friendly articles. Each article includes more than 10 other links.
Don't forget to check the behavior tips found in the Hawaiian Humane Society's Web site (www.hawaiianhumane.org). It offers helpful articles and links to information on issues as house-training, puppies that bite and litter-box use.
As you sift through all the online advice, don't forget the importance of calling your veterinarian. Your pet's doctor is familiar with you and your animal and can offer suggestions that fit your individual situation.
