1. Judicial nominee
On Thursday, the Senate failed on a 55-44 vote to end debate on the nomination of Miguel Estrada to be a federal appeals court judge. Sixty votes are needed to cut off debate. A "yea" vote was to end debate.
Hawai'i votes: Daniel Akaka (D) NAY; Dan Inouye (D) NAY
