• The State Senate has passed, and the House may soon take up, a proposal to raise the general excise tax from 4 percent to 4.5 percent. A column posted in the Sunday Focus section reversed that order.

• Marvin Fong is the youngest son of former U.S. Sen. Hiram Fong Sr. A Business story posted Saturday and a previous Business story posted Jan. 26 incorrectly described him as the elder Fong's middle son.

• The election for a Hawai'i Democratic party chairman will be held April 12. Because of a source error, a Local News story posted yesterday incorrectly said no date had been set.
