The Hawai'i baseball team swings back into action tonight in a non-conference game against Division II Hawai'i Pacific.

The rematch of a Feb. 26 game starts at 6:35 p.m. at Les Murakami Stadium.

Since then, the Rainbows (12-5) have gone 6-4, including their first road trip and Western Athletic Conference series. Hawai'i went 1-2 at Fresno State over the weekend after winning at San Francisco in a non-conference game last Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Sea Warriors (4-9) have not played since their meeting against UH. They did play last night in an exhibition against Matsusaka of Japan at Aloha Stadium. But that game does not count in their record. Matsusaka plays UH in a non-counting game tomorrow night at Murakami Stadium.

Hawai'i coach Mike Trapasso said freshman right-hander Keahi Rawlins (0-1) will start tonight, while HPU will counter with left-hander Blane Muraoka (0-2). This will be Rawlins' third start of the season. He went four innings, giving up two runs on six hits against UH-Hilo on Feb. 11, and pitched two innings, allowing an unearned run, last week against USF.

Nick Ponomarenko (3-0) started against HPU in the last meeting. He pitched three innings, giving up a run on three hits and a walk. He was followed by five relievers as UH tried to give its pitchers some work.

The Sea Warriors started Matt Paulsen, who lasted 1á innings, giving up three runs on two hits and two walks.

The mid-week games for UH come before a crucial three-game series against nationally ranked Rice, the favorite to win the WAC. The Owls, 15-1 and ranked No. 2 by Baseball America this week, are coming off a three-game sweep of Louisiana Tech in the only other WAC series over the weekend.
