UH catcher Dahlberg honored by WAC

Advertiser Staff and News Services

Hawai'i sophomore catcher Denise Dahlberg was named Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week for softball, the conference announced yesterday.

Dahlberg batted .467 in helping the Rainbows win their own Malihini Tournament over the weekend. She was 7-for-15 with two doubles, a home run, four RBIs and did not commit an error in 26 total chances.

"It was nice, pretty cool thing," Dahlberg said of the honor.

The Rainbows (14-7) head for the Kia Klassic at Cal State-Fullerton starting Thursday.

"It was pretty nice to come off with a tournament win (at the Malihini)," Dahlberg said. "We'll do good this weekend. We just have to play with the same intensity and get some wins."

Kahoalii gave up two hits over the first four innings of the second game and Steele pitched a perfect fifth in a 12-0 victory shortened because of the mercy rule.
