Woman struck, man arrestedPolice this week arrested a 23-year-old Marine who they said punched a woman in the face early Monday morning outside a Waikiki nightclub. The woman suffered a broken jaw and was knocked unconscious by the blow.
The man and woman told police that they didn't know each other. The incident was witnessed by police officers who were monitoring the morning closing of the Red Lion at 240 Lewers St.
The man appeared agitated when he came out of the club and the woman apparently told him to calm down because officers were watching him, police said. The man took two steps, turned and punched the woman, police said.
The man was arrested Monday at 3:30 a.m.
Pearl City crash victim identified
The medical examiner's office today identified the man killed in Monday's head-on traffic collision on Kamehameha Highway in Pearl City as Manuel G. Eugenio, 50, of Waipahu.
Eugenio died at Kapi'olani Medical Center-Pali Momi after his pickup truck collided with another pickup truck which was in the wrong lane.
