Agbayani will report to Cincinnati camp today

AGBAYANI
It did not take long for Hawai'i's Benny Agbayani to hook up with another organization.

The former Saint Louis School and Hawai'i Pacific standout said yesterday he signed a minor league contract with the Cincinnati Reds. He reports to the team's Sarasota, Fla., training site today. He was released by the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday.

"Nothing is guaranteed," he said of making the club's 25-man roster out of spring training. "So I have to prove myself in the next two weeks."

With the Reds, Agbayani will join another Hawai'i resident, catcher Dane Sardinha, who is on the 40-man roster. Sardinha tore the lateral collateral ligament in his left knee last week and was expected to miss three to four weeks, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.
