West in State Amateur lead

Mark West shot even-par 72 yesterday to maintain a one-stroke lead after two rounds of the 2003 Hawai'i State Amateur Stroke Play Championships at Pearl Country Club.

West is at 5-under 139 and one ahead of Travis Toyama, who shot 69 for 140.

Punahou eighth-grader Michelle Wie shot a 76 and is at 147.

The cut was made at 152 with 43 players qualifying for the final 36 holes.
