WASHINGTON — Here are some actions in Congress last week.

KEY HOUSE VOTES

1. Medical malpractice

On Thursday, the House voted 229-196 on a bill to limit malpractice awards in lawsuits against health care providers. A "yea" vote was to pass the bill.

Hawai'i votes: Neil Abercrombie (D) NAY; Ed Case (D) NAY


KEY SENATE VOTES

1. Roe v. Wade

On Wednesday, the Senate reaffirmed support for the Supreme Court ruling that made abortions legal. A "yea" vote was to support the resolution.

Hawai'i votes: Daniel Akaka (D) YEA; Dan Inouye (D) YEA

2. "Partial-birth" abortions

On Thursday, the Senate passed on a 64-33 vote a bill to ban certain late-term abortions. A "yea" vote was to pass the bill.

Hawai'i votes: Daniel Akaka (D) NAY; Dan Inouye (D) NAY

3. Judge nomination

On Thursday, the Senate rejected on a 55-42 a motion to end debate on the nomination of Miguel Estrada to be a U.S. Circuit Judge for the District of Columbia. Sixty votes are needed to cut off debate.
