ISLE FILE
ILH sailing league will make debut on April 1

Advertiser Staff

When the Interscholastic League of Honolulu opens its sailing season April 1, Hawai'i will become the first state to have a sanctioned high school sailing league championship.

More than 100 students, representing 12 ILH schools, will compete for titles in varsity and junior varsity divisions.

Varsity sailors will compete on boats that have a sail and jib. JV competitors will compete on double-handed vessels that have just a sail.

ILH principals voted 17-0 last May to approve the season. The varsity championship is April 17 and 21 at the Hawai'i and Waikiki yacht clubs.
