THE LEFT LANE
Firefighters to raise heat — and money

Advertiser Staff and News Services

Some firefighters will be "Burnin' Down the House" tomorrow night — not with matches, but with good looks. They'll be part of a fund-raising Firefighter Bachelor Auction at the Ocean Club at Restaurant Row.

In addition, there will be free makeovers, manicures and massages, and a chance to win a dating package from It's Just Lunch dating service.

Women can bid on dates with a firefighter, with proceeds going toward the fight against breast cancer. Doors open at 4:30 p.m., and the 23-and-older club has a $5 cover after 8 p.m. Wear pink (yes, men too) and get in free.

V-word show returns

"The Vagina Monologues," the provocative feminist play by Eve Ensler, pictured right, that has become a worldwide phenomenon, returns to the Hawai'i Theatre May 21-25. Plans are under way to organize a V-Day benefit here to benefit Hawai'i charities that help women affected by sexual abuse, rape and other violent acts. Meanwhile, tickets are on sale at $20 to $45. Reservations: 528-0506.

Cassidys teaming up

DAVID CASSIDY
Half-brothers Shaun and David Cassidy are reuniting on CBS' "The Agency," the Saturday-night spy drama written and produced by Shaun. The two have teamed up only once before, on Broadway in 1993's "Blood Brothers." But last month Shaun called David, 52, for a part decidedly unlike Keith Partridge.

In the episode, scheduled to air next month, David plays an investment banker whose company and family are nearly wiped out in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. "I play an extraordinarily wealthy man who no longer has anything to live for," he says. "So he tries to eliminate the people he feels are responsible for it" by bankrolling a shadow organization against the CIA.

"I am the last guy on the planet who would typecast someone because of my own experience," says Shaun, 43, who co-starred in TV's "Hardy Boys Mysteries" and, like David, was a 1970s pop star.
