PGA Grand Slam of Golf changes dates

Advertiser Staff

The PGA Grand Slam of Golf at the Po'ipu Bay Resort will be played Dec. 5-6 instead of Dec. 16-17 as previously scheduled, according to the PGA of America.

The two-day, 36-hole event featuring the winners of golf's four major championships will have a $1 million purse.

The Hyatt Regency Kaua'i will host the event for the 10th straight year.

Last year, Tiger Woods won for a fifth straight time with a course-record 11-under-par 61 and a record total 17-under 127, to win by 14 strokes over Justin Leonard and Davis Love III. PGA champion Rich Beem finished fourth.

Assistant pros honored

Assistant professionals Pat Hunt and Glenn Tamagawa have been recognized for their outstanding performances in 2002 by Billy Casper Golf, operator of the Puakea Golf Course in Lihu'e, Kaua'i.

"Glenn and Pat deserve this recognition," said Kellie Pleas, Puakea's director of golf and the head professional.
