Police ask public for help in Waipahu murder

Honolulu police are seeking the public's help in connection with a homicide in Waipahu this morning.

The victim, an unidentified Polynesian man, was shot at about 2:20 a.m. in front of 94-121 Leokane St. in Waipahu. He was shot in the chest and died at a nearby hospital.

Police want to question Emanuelu Tunoa in the case.

Tunoa is believed to be armed and dangerous. He has a prior conviction for felony assault and is known to frequent the Waipahu, Pearl City and Mililani areas.

Anyone with information should call Detective Sheryl Sunia at 529-3166 or call CrimeStoppers either at 955-8300 or by dialing *CRIME on a cell phone.

Tunoa is a 24-year-old Samoan who is 5-foot-11 and weighs 185 pounds. He has a muscular build and dark brown hair worn in a bun. He has a mustache, a goatee, brown complexion and wears an earring in his left ear. He has the follwing tattoos: "Tunoa" across the belly, "SOS" on his back, a dragon on his left arm and a cat on his right arm.

He could be driving a white 1987 Chevrolet, licence plate FJU 050, or a 1991 white GMC van, license plate JSD 388.
