THE LEFT LANE
Lady Deathstrike does 'Vagina Monologues'

Advertiser Staff and News Services

HU
Kelly Hu, the Hawai'i-born actress co-starring as Lady Deathstrike in "X2: X-Men United" (which opens tomorrow), will star in the return of Eve Ensler's celebrated play "The Vagina Monologues," May 21-25 at the Hawai'i Theatre.

"It'll be my first time on stage since my days at Kamehameha Schools," said Hu.

Consequently, it'll be her first theatrical endeavor since becoming a TV and film star. "And I'm a little nervous but very excited," she said. Starla Benford and Amy J. Carle will co-star.

Boldly going where Trekkies gather

TAKEI
Star Trek: The Kirk Generation actor George Takei (he lent his theatrically-trained eyebrows and cosmic love-daddy vox to retro-cool starship Enterprise crew member Mr. Sulu) will be here on May 31 for the Cruise Trek Hawaiian Sci-Fi Mini-Convention.

Along for the ride: Will Wheaton ("Next Generation"), Vaughn Armstrong ("Next Generation," "Voyager," "Deep Space Nine"), Manu Intiraymi ("Voyager") and the coolly named Chase Masterson ("Deep Space Nine").

Will there be merchandise, memorabilia and autographs available in the Sheraton Moana Surfrider's Grand Ballroom, too? Sheesh, dawg, is Shatner's toupee the best money can buy?

Advance tickets, at $20 general and $35 preferred seating, can be purchased at Gecko Books and Comics and Cheapo Music's University Avenue location. You also can call Cruise Trek at 310-456-7544.

And, hey, live long and prosper, right?
