Panel discussion slated for May 13

Punahou School's new chaplain, the Rev. Dr. Robert Ganung, and his world religions class present "One God, Many Names: Finding Common Ground Among the Religions of the World" at 7 p.m. May 13 at the Thurston Chapel on campus.

The free, two-hour panel discussion will feature Saleem Ahmed as the keynote speaker.

Also, panelists Lynne Hollinger (Bah‡'’), Irene Matsumoto (Buddhism), Roger Ames (Confucianism), Gary Barbaree and George Scott (Christianity), Lillian Chang (Taoism), Raj Kumar (Hinduism), Harendra Panalal (Jainism), Gregg Kinkley (Judaism), Manjit Reddick (Sikhism) and Meheroo Jussawala (Zoroastrianism) will present insights from their traditions.

Light refreshments will be served afterward.

'Sacred Secrets' presentation set

Tilak, a Sri Lankan spiritual master and mystic, will give a free, two-hour lecture on "The Sacred Secrets" at 7 p.m. May 16 at Unity Church at Diamond Head, 3608 Diamond Head Circle.

He will give a demonstration on the nature of the life force; the breeze without a source, and the cool light of Three Sacred Openings, a spirituality not based on traditional religious or philosophical concepts.

Talk on Marian art scheduled for today

The Rev. Johan Roten, an expert on Marian art, will give a free lecture on "Art, Religion and Culture" at 7 p.m. today at the Mystical Rose Chapel of Chaminade University.

Roten is the director of the International Marian Research Institute at the University of Dayton.

His talk will coincide with the opening of the monthlong "Celebrate Mary!" art exhibit of 35 pieces of folk art, on loan from the University of Dayton's Marian Library, which will be on display at Chaminade's Sullivan Library.

The Honolulu Vocal Arts Ensemble will perform music from Marian traditions on opening night.

The hours for Sullivan Library, in Henry Hall, are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
