Police have charged two men with kidnapping a Miss Hawaiian Tropic Pageant contestant from Costa Rica.

Clinton Moncata, 34, and Enrico Castillo-Jimenez, 22, who live in Kailua and Kahuku, respectively, were charged Friday. In addition to kidnapping, Castillo-Jimenez is also charged with second-degree promotion of a harmful drug.

Moncata, released Saturday after posting $100,000 bail, is scheduled to appear Wednesday in District Court. Castillo-Jimenez, who is being held in lieu of $125,000 bail, was arraigned today in District Court.

According to a police affidavit filed last week in court, an employee at the Turtle Bay Resort who knows the two men asked them to give the woman a ride to a Pupukea supermarket to save her cab fare. They left in a pickup truck driven by Moncato, police said.

The woman, 21, alleges that during the ride, Castillo-Jimenez took out a clear plastic bag of pills and another bag of a white powder. The woman said that when she refused to take a pill Castillo-Jimenez grabbed her arm and tried to force her to take the pill, the document said.

The woman forced the men to let her out of the truck by telling them she had to vomit. Once outside, she fled from them and reported the incident to police.

Moncata and Castillo-Jimenez were arrested about three hours later at the Turtle Bay Resort. Police recovered pills from a bag in Castillo-Jimenez' possession.
