Open tourism meetings slated

Gov. Linda Lingle's tourism summit committees will open their meetings to the public, said Starwood Hotels & Resorts senior vice president Keith Vieira, who is helping to organize the committees.

"The governor asked that the meetings be open, and the committees agreed," Vieira said. They "feel it will generate good discussion."

Not all committees have scheduled meetings, but initial plans include gatherings Wednesday, Friday and May 12. The committees earlier had planned closed sessions followed by public meetings.
