California man drowns off Maui

A 41-year-old California man died yesterday after he had fallen or had been washed into the ocean and drowned at Nakalele Point, Maui police said.

Police received a call around 1:30 p.m. about a missing man at the point. The victim's body was recovered at about 2 p.m. from the ocean off Nakalele Point. There appears to be no signs of foul play, police said.
