SHOW BIZ
A 'Miss Saigon' wedding party

By Wayne Harada
Advertiser Entertainment Writer

SAIGON REVISITED: When Cliffton Hall and Deedee Lynn Magno married April 27, it was sort of a reunion for 30-plus members of various "Miss Saigon" companies. Both Hall, a Windward native, and Magno, from New York, have been in "Saigon," and last appeared here together with Welly Yang's Second Generation company at the Blaisdell Concert Hall last year. Hall's best friend and co-star in Castle Performing Arts Company musicals, Robert Orosco, was best man; Michael Bright was part of the wedding party at the Sheraton Moana Surfrider Hotel. KID STUFF: Compadres in Ward Centre opened early one day last week when g.m. John Langan hosted the kick-off breakfast for Kids Day, serving up a fabulous Mexican-inspired buffet to herald the big day, which is today. The Advertiser has prepared a Kids Day edition — street sales are under way today — to benefit Parents and Children Together, and those breakfasting included PACT president Ruthann Quitiquit, Gerald Shintaku of Kraft Foods, Jamie Hartnett and Sweetie Pacarro of KSSK, legislator Brian Kanno, and Advertiser reps such as Bob Marciel, who instructed the volunteers on how to open bundles of newspapers. Bank of Hawai'i's Mike O'Neill is overall chairman, and our media pals from radio, TV, sports and business are selling the special edition today. Gov. Linda Lingle is supposed to make her first Kids Day appearance; Mayor Jeremy Harris also traditionally does his turn, too. "What Every Parent Should Know" is the theme of the edition, with youngsters in grades 1 through 12 writing essays and poems and drawing pictures. ...

James Lee, Christian Gutierrez and Kylie Moore — youngsters from the Kathy Muller Agency — portray children of actor Rob Schneider in "Fifthy First Kisses," the Adam Sandler movie now before the cameras. The youngsters were thrilled to have flown first class to Los Angeles to do a golf-course scene with the two actors. Filming continues this week. ...
