Moped operator critically injured
A 50-year-old Liliha man was critically injured Monday when he apparently fell off his moped on North Kuakini Street near Sereno Street in Nu'uanu. No other vehicles were involved in the 1:07 p.m. accident.
Police said the moped skidded to a stop near a traffic signal for no apparent reason and tipped over. The man, who was not wearing a safety helmet, was taken to The Queen's Medical Center, where he remained in critical condition yesterday, police said.
Roundabout on Manoa agenda
A temporary roundabout to be installed at the inter-section of Woodlawn Drive and Lowrey Avenue will be discussed at the Manoa Neighborhood Board meeting at 7 p.m. today in the Noelani Elementary School cafeteria, 2655 Woodlawn Drive.
The City Council last month adopted a two-year moratorium on implementing new traffic-calming projects, but money has been appropriated for the Manoa project and it is expected to move forward.
