Tuioti to coach Kalaheo football

Former University of Hawai'i defensive lineman Tony Tuioti has been appointed varsity football coach at Kalaheo High, athletic director Lee Cashman said.
Tuioti, who played high school football in Tustin, Calif., succeeds Mike Akiu, who resigned after last season.
After playing for UH from 1996-1999, Tuioti served as a graduate assistant for the Warriors for two years. He has a bachelor's degree in sociology and master's in education and works with adolescents at Spectrum Health Systems.
"According to (UH assistant Vantz) Singletary, he was a vital part of the coaching and planning (at UH)," Cashman said. "(Singletary said) he showed a real talent as a coach."

Inoue seeks world title: Hawai'i's Egan Inoue, a former world champion in racquetball and Jiu-Jitsu and a three-time SuperBrawl champion, is coming out of retirement to pursue the world Shooto title tomorrow night at Blaisdell Arena.
Inoue, 37, will face Japan's Masanori Suda, the current world champion, on the SuperBrawl XXIX card.
Shooto fighters of Japan are considered the top mixed martial artists in the world.

UH hires coach: Former University of Hawai'i cheerleader Michael Baker has been hired as the Rainbows' new coach, succeeding co-head coaches Erica Buder-Nakasone and Kellie Mikami.
Baker has been the adviser/head coach of the University of Washington squad the past two years, and has been coaching there since 1996. The Huskies placed fourth in 1999 and fifth in 2000 at the Universal Cheerleading Association (UCA) National Championships.
