Home and garden Workshops, how-to clinics this month at local Home Depot stores: You Can Pour Concrete for a Patio or Walk, 10 a.m. Saturdays; You Can Try Outdoor Power Equipment Before You Buy, 2 p.m. Saturdays; You Can Lay Ceramic Tile, 2 p.m. Sundays; You Can Learn Faux Paint Techniques, 7 p.m. Tuesdays; all clinics are free. "Do-It-Herself Night," three clinics for women offering hands-on techniques for home improvement: Power Tools 101, You Can Lay a Brick of Paver Walkway or Patio, and You Can Install Low-voltage Landscape Lighting. All clinics offered throughout the night, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Home Depot, Honolulu (521-7355) and Pearl City (455-1200). All clinics are free.

MAnoa Valley Historic Homes Walking Tour, view 60 historic homes (27 are on the state registry of historic places) and tour the interiors of seven, including the College Hill home of UH President Evan Dobelle. Miconia Hunt, join members of the Sierra Club to destroy this invasive alien plant. Meet at 8 a.m. in the Church of the Crossroads parking lot to carpool to site. Wear long pants, long-sleeved shirt and hiking boots, and bring a lunch and water.
