Bishop Museum benefit to honor two

Advertiser Staff

Advertiser columnist Bob Krauss and James C. McIntosh, chairman of the Harold K.L. Castle Foundation, will receive honors at a dinner tonight that will benefit the Bishop Museum.

"A Royal Hawaiian Ball" is the theme of the fifth annual Bernice Pauahi Bishop Awards, set for 6 to 11:30 p.m. at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Coral Ballroom.

McIntosh will receive the Charles Reed Bishop Award, named for the museum's founder. Krauss has been tapped for the Robert J. Pfeiffer Award, named for the chairman emeritus of Matson Navigation Co. and Alexander & Baldwin Inc.

McIntosh was selected for exemplifying Bishop's spirit; the Pfeiffer award honors those who perpetuate Hawai'i's maritime heritage.

Activities will begin with a silent auction and cocktails and end with dancing from 9:30 p.m.

Featured entertainers will include Cathy Foy, Nalani Olds, Misty Tauaese, Les Cebalos, the Kamehameha Schools Elementary Jazz Band and the Royal Hawaiian Band. All music to be performed was composed by or for Hawaiian monarchs.

Ticket prices start at $200 per person. Call: 848-4157.
