WASHINGTON — Here are some actions in Congress last week.

KEY HOUSE VOTES

1. Nanotechnology

On Wednesday, the House passed, 405-19, a bill authorizing $2.4 billion for nanotechnology research. A "yea" vote was to pass the bill.

Hawai'i votes: Neil Abercrombie (D) YEA; Ed Case (D) YEA

2. Job training

On Thursday, the House passed, 220-204, a job training bill that allows faith-based groups to receive federal grants, and hire and fire based on religious identity. A "yea" vote was to pass the bill.

Hawai'i votes: Neil Abercrombie (D) NAY; Ed Case (D) NAY

3. Tax cuts

The House on Friday passed, 222-203, a bill that would reduce taxes by $550 billion over 10 years. A "yea" vote was to pass the bill.

KEY SENATE VOTES

1. Judicial nomination

On Monday, the Senate confirmed, 66-25, Deborah L. Cook of Ohio to be a U.S. Circuit Judge for the 6th Circuit. A "yea" vote was to confirm Cook.

Hawai'i votes: Daniel Akaka (D) NAY; Dan Inouye (D) NAY
