Windward to get 99 Cents store

Ninety-nine-cent umbrellas, toilet paper and Spam musubi with a soda will be among special limited items on sale when Marukai Corp. opens its third 99 Cents Superstore May 24 at Windward Mall.

The company said it plans to hire about 40 employees and stock about 5,000 items in the 7,145-square-foot store.

The company opened its first 99 Cents store in 1998 in the Victoria Ward shopping complex, followed by a second in Waipahu last year.

Other stores are in the works, according to Marukai.
