UH will look into extending Trapasso

University of Hawai'i athletic director Herman Frazier said he plans to discuss a contract extension with baseball coach Mike Trapasso after the season concludes.

Trapasso will soon enter the final year of a three-year contract that is believed to pay about $120,000 per year.

The Rainbows, who are 28-24 with four road games remaining, conclude their season May 25 at San Jose State.

"We — Tom (Sadler, associate athletic director), Trap and myself — will talk about the baseball program and where we're headed," Frazier said.

Frazier said his philosophy is: "If there are coaches we want and they want to be here, then you find ways to keep your coaches. If Trap is our coach, we're going to make sure we take care of our people."

Trapasso said, "I look forward to discussing those things with Herman. I would love the opportunity to continue working with Herman on what he's trying to accomplish here."

Frazier said Les Murakami Stadium occupies a prominent place in the master plan for UH facilities that he and Sadler are currently working on.
