Graduation ceremonies for UH begin today

More than a dozen graduations from the various programs and campuses of the statewide University of Hawai'i system will begin at 5 p.m. today when 864 candidates accept degrees at Kapi'olani Community College ceremonies on the KCC Great Lawn.

Students will receive Associate of Science, Associate of Arts, Certificates of Achievement and Certificates of Completion.

Those attending the UH-Manoa graduation at the Stan Sheriff Center on Sunday should expect traffic congestion. A TV monitor will be available in Les Murakami Stadium as an alternative. Friends and family can greet graduates at the stadium after the ceremony.

Also, shuttle service will be available from upper campus parking areas to the Stan Sheriff Center. Authorized lei vendors will be in front of Les Murakami Stadium. No balloons or strollers are allowed inside the Stan Sheriff Center. Doors will open at 8 a.m.

Tomorrow:

• Honolulu Community College, 5 p.m., Waikiki Shell, with 727 candidates for degrees.

• Leeward Community College, 5 p.m., LCC's Tuthill Courtyard, 264 candidates.

• Kaua'i Community College, 6 p.m., Kaua'i Community College Performing Arts Center, 273 candidates.

• Hawai'i Community College, 7 p.m., UH-Hilo New Gym and Athletic Complex, 350 candidates.

Saturday:

• UH-Hilo, 9 a.m., UH-Hilo New Gym and Athletic Complex, 344 candidates.

• UH-West O'ahu, 9 a.m., Leeward Community College Tuthill Courtyard, 100 candidates.

• UH Army ROTC Commissioning Ceremony, 10 a.m., Tripler Army Medical Center's Kyser Auditorium, 18 cadets to be commissioned.

• Windward Community College, 1 p.m., Hale 'Akoakoa, WCC campus, 140 graduating.

• UH Manoa John A. Burns School of Medicine Convocation Ceremony, 3:30 p.m. at Kennedy Theatre, UH-Manoa, with 50 Doctor of Medicine candidates.

• UH Center at West Hawai'i, 4 p.m., King Kamehameha Kona Beach Hotel, 51 candidates.

Sunday:

• Maui Community College, 1 p.m., Maui Arts and Cultural Center, 250 candidates.

• UH-Manoa baccalaureate degrees, 9 a.m., Stan Sheriff Center, 1,194 candidates.

• UH-Manoa advanced degrees, 2 p.m., Stan Sheriff Center, 678 candidates.

Monday:

• UH-Manoa William S. Richardson School of Law, 5 p.m., Andrews Amphitheater, 75 candidates.

• UH-Manoa School of Architecture, 6 p.m., Keoni Auditorium, Jefferson Hall, East-West Center, 24 candidates.

Corrections: Due to an error, 18 UH Army ROTC cadets will be commissioned, not 128 cadets. The UH Manoa John A. Burns School of Medicine ceremony is at 3:30 p.m., not 3 p.m. as originally listed.
