United resuming Hawai'i flight

United Airlines, citing a recent increase in bookings, is restoring one daily flight to Honolulu from San Francisco next month. The Hawai'i flight is among 162 systemwide United said it will restore next month.

Also, American Airlines said it plans in June to expand its summer service to Hawai'i with additional flights to Kona and Lihu'e.

Safeway may try to buy Longs

Long Drugs Stores may receive a new buyout offer from Safeway after it was believed to have been rebuffed two years ago, Business Week reported. A buyout group is also looking closely at the Longs chain, the magazine said, citing a hedge fund manager who owns more than 5 percent of the stock.

Maui technology park to expand

A new technology incubator building will be built at the Maui Research and Technology Park, thanks to a $2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce.

The Department of Commerce's David Sampson was to present the check to the Maui Economic Development Board yesterday.
