TV station news director resigns

Seth Feldman, news director at KHNL-News 8, said yesterday he is leaving the station June 30 to pursue new creative opportunities.

Feldman, 32, joined the NBC affiliate in March 2001. He has been known for emphasizing live broadcasts from the field during the station's newscasts and pushing for lifestyle and consumer news.

Feldman said he plans to travel and is also discussing several projects to produce television shows in Hawai'i and possibly overseas. He said he also has some ideas for a new reality show and a situation comedy.

"The time seems right to make a move," he said. "I'm 32, at the top of my game and I'm leaving KHNL on great terms. I've taken big chances before and the payoff has been huge."

Feldman said he is proud of his accomplishments at KHNL, especially growing its audience at 5 and 6 p.m. and, at various times over the past two years, increasing its share of the 10 p.m. news audience.
